High Commissioner of South Africa Visit to MiER

On 30 September 2021, the South African High Commissioner to Malaysia, H.E. David Evan Malcomson, visited the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) and discussed with Dr. Hezri Adnan, Executive Director of MIER, and the experts of the Institute. South Africa and Malaysia have a long-standing friendship built on shared history and solid bilateral cooperation, especially during the 1990s. Moving forward, H.E. Malcomson and Dr. Hezri recognize the strategic benefits for Malaysia and South Africa to re-engage through trade and people-to-people relations. Malaysia can also tap the investment opportunities within the African Continental Free Trade Agreement Area, with South Africa as its gateway.
