The Malaysian Economic Outlook is released every quarter.  It documents the current state of the economy and examines how some of the key indicators have been trending.  Some of the indicators that are followed include an analysis of the components of GDP, the industrial production index and trends in external trade.  In addition, the movements in inflation and the balance of payments will be presented and discussed.

The Outlook provides a snapshot of select global trends, with mention of commodity prices and some of the outstanding issues in the global economy that have the potential to impact the Malaysian economy.  Finally, the forecasts of international organisations such as the IMF will be highlighted, followed by MIER’s view of the near-term prospects of the Malaysian economy.  The Outlook will also outline the main downside risks.
